Gayle started in the beauty industry in a Lafayette salon but quickly put her sights on the fashion industry in California. She moved to Los Angeles and began working as a stylist for television. While there, she also began modeling for Wilhelmina and gained connections in the advertising community of LA. She sharpened her skills for fashion and style in LA. and took her knowledge of advertising styling to the east coast. She moved to South Carolina and worked on a production set focusing on wardrobes, makeup, and hair. She learned even more about fashion personalities and hair styling while in show business.
Gayle then was given the opportunity to work for Ochsner in their Image Center. This is where she learned how much she enjoyed giving back and the impact the beauty industry can have on a person’s self-image and confidence. While at Ochsner she worked side by side with the plastic surgery, oncology, dermatology, and infectious disease departments. Gayle handled all the patient makeovers and was trained in Camouflage Therapy for burn survivors. Gayle left Ochsner to build a salon in her home so she could be closer to her growing family. However, Gayle’s’ dreams were bigger than could be accomplished in her home salon. In 2012, Gayle opened Air Salon and Blow Dry Bar in Mandeville. Air is a full-service luxury salon with a blow dry bar under the same roof. In partnership with her husband, she opened her second location in Baton Rouge in 2013, followed by a third location in Covington, which opened in 2016. Today Gayle’s role is a mixture of mentoring and coaching over 50 young professional stylists and continuing to serve her guests behind the chair. Her company has hosted a braid bar during the festival and donated their time to help raise funds during the two day fesitval. She is excited for the opportunity to also raise money as an honoree for St. Jude through The Flower Fest.
